Past Simple and Past Perfect
Did you go anywhere last summer? Where did you spend your last holidays? Had you passed your tests successfully before?
Ты ездил куда-нибудь прошлым летом? Где ты провел прошлые летние каникулы? Успешно ли ты сдал до этого экзамены?
В этих предложениях встречаются два времени: Past Simple и Past Perfect.
Давайте разберем, как они образуются и когда они используются.
Past Simple Tense
Past Simple мы используем, когда говорим о завершенном действии в прошлом.
Мы знаем, что в английском языке есть правильные глаголы и неправильные.
Правильные глаголы в Past Simple образуются с помощью окончания -ed (work – worked, travel – travelled) (рис. 1).
Для неправильных глаголов будем использовать вторую форму глагола, она так и называется Past Simple (speak – spoke, teach – taught) (рис. 1).

Past Simple
Примеры:
Last year we travelled to Australia. ( В прошлом году мы ездили в Австралию.)
She taught me English. (Она учила меня английскому языку.)
Past Perfect Tense
Past Perfect используется, когда мы говорим о событии, которое произошло в прошлом до другого события в прошлом.
Образуется это время с помощью вспомогательного глагола had и глагола в третьей форме (если он неправильный: go – went – gone) или добавляем окончание -ed (если глагол правильный: watch – watched) (рис. 2).

Прочитайте текст и выпишите в две колонки предложения с Past Simple и Past Perfect.
Have you ever seen a kangaroo? I saw it last summer. I went to Australia last July. I hadn’t seen a kangaroo before I went to Australia. I also wanted to see a crocodile. I decided to go to the crocodile show to see how they feed the huge animals six meters long. But first I wanted to eat an ice-cream. And when I came back to the show the crocodile had left. I failed to see the crocodile because I hadn’t come in time. I ordered a ticket to a whale watch that my friends had told me about. The whale was fantastic. So I travelled to Australia because I had studied English. I saw lots of beautiful animals and the rainforest.
