 1. Сожаления и пожелания, касающиеся прошлого

Если мы хотим вы­ска­зать наше со­жа­ле­ние по по­во­ду того, что слу­чи­лось в про­шлом и по­это­му нель­зя ис­пра­вить, то в ан­глий­ском языке мы ис­поль­зу­ем кон­струк­цию I wish или If only + под­ле­жа­щее +  гла­гол в форме Past Perfect.

При­мер:

If only I had bought another pair of shoes. These are not comfortable. – Жаль, что я не ку­пи­ла дру­гие туфли. В этих мне неудоб­но.

I forgot to set the alarm clock. I wish I had set the alarm clock yesterday. – Я забыл за­ве­сти бу­диль­ник. Как бы я хотел, чтобы я завел вчера бу­диль­ник.

По­тре­ни­ру­ем­ся пе­ре­во­дить с рус­ско­го на ан­глий­ский:

1) Жаль, что я не по­смот­ре­ла этот фильм вчера.

2) Жаль, что мы опоз­да­ли.

3) Жаль, что я по­те­рял ключи.

4) Жаль, что не успел на ав­то­бус.

5) Жаль, что я не по­лу­чил пя­тер­ку.

1) I wish I had watched this film yesterday.

2) I wish we hadn’t been late.
